Can I get Nursing with 200 JAMB score in Nigerian universities? Yes, apparently you can get admission with JAMB score 200 in many universities if you want to. 


In most Nigerian universities JAMB score will not guarantee you admission because Post UTME and aggregate calculations varies in most universities. When I wrote JAMB 2024, I scored 214. People told me “forget you can’t get any medical course with that score”. But today I’m studying my desired medical course at Rivers State University RSU. 


If you have 200, this is for you. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s impossible for federal and state universities. It depends on 3 things: Post UTME, aggregate, and strategy.


The Truth About 200 JAMB Score - 120 words  

Yes, JAMB 200 is low for Nursing. But JAMB alone doesn’t decide your fate. After writing your JAMB you still need to keep studying ahead of Post UTME so you can combine and get your departmental aggregate.


Federal and state universities don’t look at JAMB only. They add Post UTME + O’Level. That’s why someone with 250 JAMB can fail, while someone with 200 can enter. 


So if your score is 200, 210, 214 like me, calm down. Your work starts AFTER JAMB. Don’t enter depression. Enter reading room.


How Federal + State Universities Calculate Aggregate - 150 words  

“HOW most universities like RSU, Uniport, UNICAL calculate their aggregate“


Most federal and state universities use this same formula for Nursing:


Aggregate Score = JAMB Score ÷ 8 + Post UTME Score ÷ 2


Let me break it with real numbers:


Rivers State University RSU: JAMB 200 ÷ 8 = 25 points. If you score 80 in Post UTME ÷ 2 = 40 points. Total = 65 points. RSU Nursing cut-off 2024/2025 was 64-66 for catchment. 200 + 80 Post UTME = you’re in.


University of Port Harcourt Uniport: Same formula JAMB/8 + Post UTME/2. Cut-off higher, around 70. But if you’re catchment and score 85-90 in Post UTME, 200 can still cross.


University of Calabar UNICAL: JAMB/8 + Post UTME/2. Catchment students have advantage. 200 + 75 Post UTME can merit for UNICAL Nursing.


Key point: You check whether you merit or you go in for catchment. Catchment area reduces cut-off by 3-5 points. That’s what saves 200 scores.


My Personal Story - From 214 JAMB to RSU Nursing - 180 words  

Mistake you should not make: If you meet up a particular school university like RSU your JAMB score should not weak you from pushing up more to secure your admission.


This is my personal experience. I scored 214 in JAMB 2024. When I checked, I was weak. Friends with 270 were laughing. But I remembered one thing: Post UTME is 50%.


I didn’t let that 214 weak me. I pushed more. I bought RSU Nursing Post UTME past questions. I studied 6-8 hours daily for 1 month. I treated past questions like exam.


Result: I scored 78 in RSU Post UTME.  

Calculation: 214 ÷ 8 = 26.75 + 78 ÷ 2 = 39.  

Aggregate = 26.75 + 39 = 65.75


RSU Nursing cut-off that year was 65. I crossed it by 0.75. Today I got admitted to my desired medical course at Rivers State University.


If 214 worked for me in federal/state university, 200 can work for you too. The difference is not JAMB. The difference is Post UTME fire.


3 STEPS TO MAKE 200 WORK FOR FEDERAL/STATE UNIVERSITY 

If you have 200 and you want federal/state university Nursing, do these 3 things:


Forget JAMB, Face Post UTME: JAMB is gone. Post UTME is your second JAMB. Score 75+ and 200 becomes powerful.


Check Aggregate Early: Use JAMB/8 + Post UTME/2 formula. Know the score you need to cross your school’s cut-off. Don’t wait till result comes out.


Use Catchment Advantage: If your state is catchment for RSU, Uniport, UNICAL, use it. Catchment + 200 + 75 Post UTME = admission letter.


Don’t Give UP:

200 JAMB score is not the end for federal and state university Nursing. I did it with 214 at RSU. You can do it too. Push your Post UTME. That’s the real game changer.
